Leap of Faith
Here's my experience on taking a "Leap of Faith" literally...
Situation: My 2 year old daughter locked herself in balcony!!!
My wife and me, we both were in adjacent room with this balcony, our daughter was playing and she happens to be in balcony.
I wanted to see how she would respond if she don't see her parents for a minute, but consequent events were terrifying.
She started to experiment with this door lock from her side...
For a moment I was thoughtless, by this time she realised that she's alone and she started screaming and crying , and then it struck me.
First thing is to put her in comfortable situation, stop her panicking so I asked my wife to give her company, assure her that she wasn't alone there. Fortunately there was a window from which my wife could see my daughter and talk to her.
Then I started looking for ways to get into balcony...
Options I had were,
1. Get a ladder - No, It's time taking process, (low/no risk)
2. Get to balcony from terrace of adjacent building, which is ages old and don't know when it will fall apart, (high risk)
I chose option 2.
As I got down to terrace of that building which is of same height of my balcony I started realising that, this is the moment where I choose to go ahead and save my daughter without any safety measures.
You see when you are in a situation like this which threatens your family's safety, as a father you don't see the danger you are in when you try to save your family from that danger, you will put yourself in life threaning situations in order to save your family.
This is where I took that "Leap of Faith",
I entered into my balcony from next building's terrace, given I had little experience in climbing and jumping stuff that moment was huge risk for me, what if I had slipped in this attempt, I might have injured myself grievously,
But this danger of crossing appeared to be negligible compared to what my daughter was going through...
So I took that Leap of Faith in literal sense.
After this experience I realised how important for me it is to look after my family each and every second assuring their safety each and every moment.
Being a father is something you have to accept the situation no matter you are ready for it or not!
You just have to dive into situations like this, I know this won't be last situation where I have to take risk, There are more to come and I know I shall face them courageously.
What I learned from this:
Life is uncertain, It's a struggle to survive for some, It's a challenge to thrive for some and It's a game for some, It depends on how you see at it and your attitude towards Life definitely matters.
The element of uncertainty can be reduced by following safety measures, being prepared for anything that comes in your way make your plan of actions certain.
With this experience I conclude my first ever article on my blog, I hope to write about my personal and professional experiences in upcoming articles.
